Can I Be Honest With You?

Almost Every Christian I Talk to Believes We're Living in the Last Days

Almost every Christian I talk to lately says they believe, "We're living in the last days," but how many are living with a "Last days urgency?" I believe many believers want to make the most of the little time we have left, but they don't know what to do.

You've probably heard one of these sayings: "ignorance is bliss or with knowledge comes responsibility." I'm going to share some things with you that you may not be aware of and once you are aware you will be responsible for what you do with what you know.

The State of the Great Commission

The vast majority of Christians I meet are completely unaware of the state of the Great Commission in our world and those who are aware, don't know what to do about it.

Most Christ followers don't realize that roughly 2 billion people on earth have never once heard the name of Jesus Christ. That's 1 in 4 people on the planet — men and women who have never had the chance to accept or reject Him, simply because they've never heard of Him.

Are You Using What You've Been Given?

If you live in America, you are among the wealthiest people on earth — in what may be the most prosperous nation in human history. Own a home and two vehicles? That puts you in the top 2% of the world's population. So here's the question worth sitting with: are you using the blessings you've been given to increase the population of Heaven? Will you let your temporary wealth make an eternal difference?

It's not about how much money a person has or doesn't have. It's about what we do with what we have. It's about a person's priorities. It's about whether or not we have the same priorities as Jesus.

Imagine what would have happened if one of the first disciples of Jesus chose not to obey a direct command from Jesus. It would not have ended well for that disciple. In fact, it probably would have ended with that disciple no longer being a disciple. You can't disobey your master and remain in right relationship with Him.

What Are Your Spiritual Priorities?

But what about you and me today? What are our spiritual priorities? Are they the same as the priorities of Jesus? Jesus commanded his followers to make disciples of all nations. He commanded them to go, preach the gospel, and baptize those who respond to the message. Then teach them to obey everything that Jesus commanded his first followers to do.

Jesus built repetition into the process by giving a command that all future generations of His followers must be taught to obey all of His commands. This means that every follower of Jesus, from the first century to today, is still required to obey every command. This includes the commands to Go, Preach, Baptize, and Teach obedience to His commands to make disciples of everyone on earth.

This process will not end before Jesus comes back! It will continue right up until the return of Christ.

What Is a Disciple?

At the time of Christ, a disciple was someone who memorized, agreed with, and obeyed the master's teaching. They also imitated the actions of their rabbi and consistently gathered more disciples to their rabbi.

If we don't make disciples using this definition, we will never make disciples as Jesus intended!

A Quick Self Evaluation

Now let's do a quick self evaluation. Take a moment and ask yourself these questions:

  • Am I really a disciple of Jesus?
  • Before today, did I even know what a disciple really was?
  • Do I know how to make a disciple?
  • Have I ever made a disciple?
  • Am I going anywhere with the purpose of sharing the gospel and making disciples?
  • If not, am I willing to go anywhere to make disciples? (across the street - across the globe?)
  • Do I know how to share the gospel with someone?
  • Have I ever baptized anyone?
  • And would I feel comfortable baptizing someone?
  • Do I obey all of Jesus' commands?
  • Do I even know all of Jesus' commands?

What About Your Money?

And what about your money? How much of it is being directed toward making disciples of ALL NATIONS and FINISHING the Great Commission?

Think about how we spend without hesitation — a $7 latte on the way to work, a $100 family dinner on a Friday night, thousands on a summer vacation, hundreds a month on streaming, tickets, and eating out. We finance cars worth more than most people on earth will earn in a lifetime and take out mortgages on homes that would seem unimaginable to billions around the world. And yet, most of us give little — if anything — toward reaching the 2 billion people who have never heard the name of Jesus.

Someone once said, "Give me 30 minutes with your bank statement, and I'll tell you what's important to you." What does your bank statement reveal about what's important to you? What does mine reveal about me?

What if you cancelled one subscription you barely use anymore? What if you skipped the drive-thru once a week? Those small decisions — the ones you'd hardly notice — could free up real money to help reach people who have never once heard the name of Jesus. You don't have to overhaul your life. You just have to start somewhere.

You might be thinking, 'I already give to my local church — isn't that enough?' And that giving absolutely matters. But here's something most people don't know: less than 1/10 of 1% of church offerings actually reach the most unreached people on earth. Your local church is doing important work — but the need beyond its walls is staggering. At Go Multiply our resources are used to reach the most unreached on earth.

If you want your giving to directly impact the unreached, it needs to go to ministries that are actually on the front lines —  where every dollar goes toward training and sending disciple-makers into the hardest, most forgotten corners of the earth, among people who have never heard the name of Jesus."

What Sacrifices Are You Willing to Make?

In all seriousness, what sacrifices are you willing to make in order to see the Great Commission FINISHED in your lifetime? If you are an American, you probably don't know the language, culture, or customs of the remaining unreached people groups on earth. The food and sleeping arrangements may not be acceptable to you. So, how will YOU reach and disciple them?

You can't go to them yourself. But you can send others. You can help train, equip, empower, and deploy local disciples who know the language and culture and who blend in because they look like they belong there.

As I type this, we at Go Multiply have over 10,000 disciple-makers waiting to be trained and sent. These potential trainees live very near to the most unreached people on earth. Will you help us train and send them?

The cost is just $50.00 to train each one and then another $100.00 or so to send them and equip them with bibles for the new believers. How many will you train and send? Just $5.00/day covers 1/month. $50.00/day trains and sends 10/month. Even $1.00/day will train and send 2/year.

In the parable of the talents Jesus wasn't concerned with how much they had been given, He was concerned with WHAT THEY DID with what they had been given. What are you doing with what you've been given?

Many hands make light work. Together we CAN finish the Great Commission in our lifetime!

The apostle Peter said that we should, "look forward to the day (of Jesus' return) and SPEED ITS COMING." (2 Peter 3:12) Ask yourself, what am I doing to speed the return of Christ?

Here Are Some Suggestions

Become a disciple-maker. Research DMM and DBS and then apply what you learn! Find a way to go somewhere to make disciples. Jesus sent them 2x2 so who's your plus 1? Who will you go with? Learn how to share the gospel. Practice baptizing some people (even do a "dry run" before your first real baptism). And get into (or start) a fellowship that is committed to learning and obeying all the commands of Christ (the DBS is the best thing we've found).

Also, find a way to free up some money to help finish the Great Commission. Ask yourself, "what can I start, stop, change, or sell in order to free up resources to finish reaching the world for Christ."

Finishing the Great Commission is an achievable goal. We have people who are ready and willing to go to them. We know where they are. We have the finances and the technology to get it done. We simply need to combine all these resources so the senders can send, the trainers can train, the goers can go, the unreached can be reached, and Jesus can return! Will you step into the role Jesus has for you to play in this great and final harvest of this age?

A Couple Final Questions

A couple final questions to ask yourself. "Do I really want Jesus to return?" Or will that mess up your plans? Do you secretly hope He'll hold off just a little longer? Do you just want to make it to retirement; take your next vacation; raise your kids; or finish whatever you are working on before He comes back?

Or do you look forward to His return? Do you long for His Kingdom to come to earth which will be infinitely better than anything you could dream up here in a million years!
Ask yourself, "Do I care about the 43,000 people who die and go to hell every day from these unreached people groups?" I don't write this to guilt trip you but to inform you. Most Christian church members aren't even aware of the billions of unreached souls in the world. How can anyone care about anything they are not aware of?
These 43,000 men, women, and children don't go to hell because they rejected Jesus. They go to hell because they've NEVER even heard of Jesus! They go to hell because no one has cared enough to put in the effort to go to them; share the Gospel with them; and disciple them. May this horrible reality come to an end today.

This is why Go Multiply exists: To FINISH THE GREAT COMMISSION by multiplying disciples in every people group on earth!
